Beginning in May, walking tours will be given by appointment to individuals and groups. Hofstra University campus has been officially designated a National Arboretum. The Arboretum features over 12,000 trees representing almost 625 different species and varieties. Bird sanctuary (2-acre site) open on request. Call for further information.

A museum of natural history, Tackapausha Museum directs its attention to the living things in our environment, featuring the animals and plants of Long Island. Over 100 live animals housed in the museum. The 84-acre preserve with streams, ponds and 5 miles of hiking trails is a wildlife sanctuary devoted to nature, recreation and education.
