Supervisor Clavin & Council Members Kick Off Town of Hempstead’s 2021 E-Cycle Collection & Shredding Programs on March 6th

Wed, March 3rd 2021 (11:45 AM)

Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin, in partnership with Senior Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Councilman Bruce Blakeman, Councilman Anthony D’Esposito, Councilman Dennis Dunne, Sr., Councilman Thomas Muscarella and Councilman Chris Carini, is calling on residents to help protect the environment from toxic materials by recycling their electronic waste at Hempstead Town’s E-Cycling and Shredding Programs in 2021.

The town’s first E-Cycle/Shredding event will be held on March 6th at the Hempstead Village Department of Public Works at 450 Milburn Avenue in Hempstead from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All E-Cycle and Shredding events are contactless – residents are asked to place all electronic waste and/or documents in their trunks and remain in their vehicles. The E-Cycle and Shredding team will do the rest!

“Technology evolves so quickly, and residents are constantly replacing older and obsolete electronic devices,” Clavin said. “Being mindful of the environment, we want to ensure that these items are exposed in a safe and eco-friendly manner. We invite neighbors to dispose of their electronic waste and shred their documents at an upcoming E-Cycle event.”

Items to e-cycle include television, computers, computer components, monitors, tablets, e-readers, electronic keyboards, fax machines, scanners, printers, VCRs, DVRs, DVD players, digital converter boxes, cable or satellite receivers, electronic and video game consoles and portable digital music players. Cell phones are NOT accepted.

At all e-cycle programs, residents can also bring their personal papers and confidential documents to be shredded. Shredding services are free and open to town residents only; no shredding from commercial or home businesses will be accepted. Materials to be shredded should be brought in paper bags or cardboard boxes.

The town’s e-cycling program is open to Town of Hempstead residents only (no businesses, non-commercial vehicles only). For questions about e-cycling, please call (516) 378-4210. Visit for more details.
