Starting Monday, April 6th all town recycling collections will be suspended until further notice as a result of COVID-19 staffing issues. Garbage collections will remain unaffected. Please hold on to your recycling until service is resumed.
As Commuter Parking Permits are set to expire March 31, 2020, Town Clerk Kate Murray has advised The Nassau County Police Department and the Town of Hempstead Public Safety Department to suspend enforcement of parking permits until further notice. You may still apply by mail or online https://hempsteadtown.com/townclerk

Consistent with local and state emergency declarations, the next Hempstead Town Board meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, March 31st at 10:30 a.m., will be a closed to the public, but can be viewed on the Town of Hempstead’s Livestream. The meeting will also be recorded and transcribed. There will be no public comment.
Parks programs, including Camp ANCHOR, the Newbridge Ice Rink and all recreational classes have been canceled until further notice. Please click here for a letter from the Commissioner.

As per the US Department of State, all passport services are closed to the public and appointments cannot be accepted. As we receive further directives from the US Department of State, we will update our residents. Thank you for your patience during this challenging time.
All bid openings have been postponed until further notice.
Due to schedule staggering in precaution of COVID-19, some sanitation routes may start an hour earlier. Please remember to bring your bins to the curb the night before to ensure pickup.
The Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve in Merrick, which is maintained and utilized by the Department of Sanitation, is closed to the public until further notice. Other town parks, which are maintained by the Department of Parks & Recreation, remain open. We will keep you posted when the park re-opens.
The Board of Zoning Appeals meetings that are scheduled for March 25th and April 1st have been postponed to a later date.
The Department of Water continues to function fully with regards to water supply and testing, however it will be limiting service at its customer service counter to 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Friday. Customers are encouraged to mail their payments, utilize the online billing portal athempsteadtown.com/wateror by dropping their payments in the dropbox provided near the entrance of 1995 Prospect Avenue, East Meadow.
The Baldwin DRI Local Planning Committee Meeting #5 scheduled for March 19th has been postponed.
The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is still functioning normally, taking proper care of our animals and responding to emergency situations. Adoption and foster applications are still being accepted and are available online.
The Animal Shelter is still responding to calls and picking up stray dogs and cats. If you lost your pet, please call the shelter at (516)785-5220 to fill out a lost report.
The Volunteer program is currently not in operation until further notice. Staff members will increase dog walking responsibilities.
Please be advised that for the health and safety of our residents and employees,, the final three Resident Permit Parking Programs at the LIRR stations (3/18 Seaford; 3/24 Wantagh; 3/25 Baldwin) will be cancelled.

Town of Hempstead commuter parking permit enforcement will be suspended until further notice.
Due to public health and safety concerns, all Town of Hempstead Civil Service examinations originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2020 have been postponed. Approved candidates will receive information regarding the rescheduled exams.
Due to heightened awareness and concern for COVID-19, there will be no direct in-person processing of any Town Clerk services until further notice.
However, forms for various Town Clerk services will be available at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion at Hempstead Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 18th, 19th and 20th.

All Department of Parks and Recreation activities, meetings, community room activities, physical fitness classes, cultural arts classes, youth programs and Camp Anchor activities are postponed until further notice. All 14 Town of Hempstead Senior Centers, Newbridge Ice Rink Arena, Echo Park Indoor Pool Complex and Rock Hall Museum are closed until further notice.
As the health and safety of our residents is always Hempstead Town's top priority, the "Passport Day in the Five Towns Program" scheduled for Sunday, March 22nd at Cedarhurst Village Hall has been postponed until further notice.
