Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin and the Town Board invite you to properly dispose of old medicine and prescription drugs by safely discarding them at one of four convenient locations that will be operating this Sunday, October 24th. Located at all four corners of the township, the Prescription Drug Take-Back Program will be operating from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the following sites:
- Town Park Point Lookout Parking Lot (1300 Lido Blvd., Point Lookout)
- Merrick Golf Clubhouse Parking Lot (2550 Clubhouse Rd., Merrick)
- Rath Park Main Parking Lot (849 Fenworth Blvd., Franklin Square – Entrance to parking lot off of Naple Avenue)
- Levittown Parking Field L2 (90 Division Ave., Levittown)
Opioids and other prescription drugs can be dangerous if misused and disposed of incorrectly. Nassau County Police will be on hand at all sites to oversee the collection and transportation of the medications to Covanta Energy, who will oversee the disposal process. Residents will be able to drop off their medications for disposal without leaving the comfort of their own cars. No needles or sharp objects will be accepted. The Prescription Drug Take-Back Program is the perfect opportunity to shed your meds! “I am thankful to partner with Covanta Energy to offer this important program,” said Clavin. “Unused prescription medications can be hazardous if left alone or not disposed of correctly. I look forward to creating more opportunities to help residents of America’s largest township shed the meds.”
