In a joyous and patriotic celebration at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, the Town of Hempstead inducted to new terms Supervisor Don Clavin, Town Clerk Kate Murray, Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll, Councilman Tom Muscarella, Councilman Chris Carini, Councilwoman Melissa Miller and Councilwoman Laura Ryder. Town officials expressed gratitude to local residents for entrusting them with serving America's largest and most diverse township.
Inducting officers included Nassau County Republican Committee Chairman Joseph G. Cairo, Jr., Chief Deputy Nassau County Executive Arthur Walsh, County Executive Bruce Blakeman, Congressman Anthony D'Esposito and former Congressman Peter King. Additional remarks were offered by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Nassau County Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip, Very Rev. Michael Duffy of St. Agnes Cathedral and Rabbi Mordechai Kamenetzky of the Yeshiva of South Shore. Opening ceremonies were led by the Nassau County Firefighters Pipes and Drums and the Nassau County Police Department Color Guard.
