Hempstead Town Animal Shelter Waiving Pet Adoption Fees in Celebration of Valentine's Day

furry valentine

Everyone needs a trusting and loyal companion 365 days out of the year. While Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate loved ones, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter has a number of compatible furry friends for all interested residents. With waived fees now through March 31st, residents can go home with their new best friend free of charge!

“This is what it’s all about,” Supervisor Clavin said. “Residents shouldn’t have to let additional fees prevent them from obtaining a new part of their family. I encourage all residents to come down and adopt their new best friend!”

The adoption fees typically consist of spaying/ neutering, rabies vaccinations, and microchipping costs. For this Furry Valentine event, all tests will be conducted for your new pet for free through Friday, March 31st. There is a $10 fee to obtain a dog license.

The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is the home to many adorable cats and dogs. While this special “My Furry Valentine” event will be rescinding all costs of adoptions, it’s important to keep in mind that year-round adoption fees are waived for all veterans, senior residents, physically challenged residents, volunteer firefighters, and auxiliary police officers.

The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. Before visiting the shelter, please visit our website to view the list of needed materials to complete the adoption process. For more information, please contact the shelter at (516)785-5220.
