Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin and Receiver of Taxes Jeanine Driscoll have announced that the Town of Hempstead will continue to provide contactless payment options during the second half general tax collection period. The grace period to pay the second half 2022 general taxes without New York State-mandated interest or penalty expires on August 10, 2022.
“To better serve the residents of Hempstead Town, we are once again offering several contactless payment options to our taxpayers,” said Receiver Driscoll. “From drive-thru payment windows at the main office and satellite drive-thru payment booths to walk-up payment booths and online payments, there is no shortage of convenient payment methods.”
Supervisor Clavin added, "The level of service that Receiver Driscoll provides our taxpayers at the Hempstead Tax Office is second to none, and I am proud of the efforts that our CSEA Local 880 workforce continues to put forth to serve the public so well.”
Hempstead Tax Office (200 North Franklin Street in Hempstead)
The Hempstead Town Tax Office at 200 North Franklin Street in Hempstead will be open for extended office hours of 8 AM to 6 PM on weekdays, from August 1st to August 10th. Forms of payment accepted at the Tax Office are cash, checks, and money orders.
In addition, on weekdays from 9 AM to 4 PM, from July 25th to August 10th, check and money order payments will be accepted at the outdoor walk-up payment booth located in the Tax Office’s parking lot at 200 North Franklin Street in Hempstead.
The “EZ-Pay drive-thru” payment windows located behind the Tax Office at 200 North Franklin Street allow property owners to pay their taxes from the comfort of their own car. Check and money order payments will be accepted at the drive-thru windows, on weekdays, from 9 AM to 4 PM, from July 18th to August 10th.

In addition to the various payment options at the Tax Office, satellite drive-thru payment booths will be open to accept check and money order payments on weekdays, from 10 AM to 2 PM, from July 25th to August 10th at the following locations:
- Rock Hall, 199 Broadway, Lawrence
- Seamans Neck Park, 2700 South Seamans Neck Road, Seaford
- Echo Park, 399 Nassau Boulevard, West Hempstead
For added convenience, two satellite offices will open in August to collect check and money order payments from 10 AM to 2 PM on the following dates:
- August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at Oceanside Library’s TEMPORARY LOCATION, 56 Atlantic Avenue, Oceanside.
- August 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, and 10th at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Parkway, Hicksville.
Pay Online or By Mail
Residents can also pay their taxes online via a credit or debit card, or by electronic check by visiting hempstead.egovpayments.com/egov/apps/bill/pay.egov. Payment by credit card will incur a convenience fee of 2.3% of the total tax payment, with a minimum fee of $1.50 per transaction. A flat fee of $0.90 per transaction will be charged for electronic checks. Personal VISA debit card payments will incur a $3.95 fee per transaction. Hempstead Town receives no portion of the convenience fees which are charged by the company that processes the online transactions.
When paying by mail, please be sure that checks are signed and dated, and made payable to Jeanine C. Driscoll, Receiver of Taxes. Property owners must include the school district, section, block and lot numbers on the check while confirming that numerical and written amounts are identical. Mail payments to Town of Hempstead Receiver of Taxes, 200 North Franklin Street, Hempstead, NY 11550. To avoid penalty, payments submitted by mail must be received by or have a U.S. Postal Service cancellation stamp dated no later than August 10, 2022.
General taxes may be paid at the Tax Office up to and including August 31st. After August 31st, the levy is closed, and current year general taxes will be payable at the Nassau County Treasurer’s Office. Amounts in arrears will be subject to an additional charge by the Nassau County Treasurer.
