Overview
Any taxpayer, ages 65 or older, or who is handicapped, and owns a 1, 2, or 3-family residential property, may designate a third party to receive a duplicate tax bill on their behalf. If the owner is under age 65 and has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, Section C (Physician's Certification of the Disability) must be completed. The designee is not legally responsible for making a tax payment.
Completed applications must be received by August 1st to take effect with the next School Tax Levy, or by November 1st to take effect with the next General Tax Levy. Only residential property owners are eligible for this program. Complete Parts A and B only, unless claiming disability and under 65 years of age.
To apply, please complete and submit a Third Party Notification Form. Completed Third Party Notification forms may be submitted to the Hempstead Town Receiver of Taxes Office as follows:
