Pastel Workshop

Learn how to paint the portrait in pastel in this exciting new course.  Students will explore the various procedures necessary to capture the likeness and unique personality of the sitter.  Composition, color, proportions and the effects of light and dark will be explored.  The features of the faces will be emphasized as well as the underlying structure of the head.  Students will work for references as well a life clothed model.  A model/materials fee is due at the first class.  A complete materials list is listed on the instructor’s website, janemcgraw.com.  Please bring soft vine charcoal, a kneaded eraser and a white pastel or equivalent to the first class (paper is provided).
